The Zen of Conquest

Necessary Evils

The world is yoursAmerica is such a fickle place. Stupid consumers took out loans they could never hope to afford, with all kinds of complex conditions they didn't bother to read, and then they gripe about the economy. Banks and lenders sell the loans under false pretenses out of pure, unadulterated greed, cry about needing a bailout and then go right back to spending lavishly on their employees. But floating right under the surface of this is something profoundly optimistic: the promise of a new start.

You see, if humans were truly capable of learning from their mistakes and applying learned knowledge en mass, this never would have happened. But once every generation or so, as the old boys club gets to the point where they don't have any interest in maintaining discipline and dart off into unpredictable directions in the name of greed, a changing of the guard occurs. It's commonly known as "boom and bust," when a country and its economy gets so high on its horse that it forgets common sense and makes a series of stupid decisions that ultimately cause doom and gloom across society.

But what most people who are suffering as a result of this economy don't want to hear is this: it's completely and utterly necessary. Consider it like evolution on a multi-trillion dollar scale. The stubborn, old class of men running the upper echelons of society have run their course and shown their lack of understanding of the times they now live in, and it is the prime opportunity for the young and ambitious to make their moves. As gloomy as it might seem, this is actually the best time for people in their 20s or 30s to take advantage of products and services for building their empire being low priced and easier to access.

Take advantage of people's fear, and I assure you success. There's a reason that get rich quick schemes are selling like hot cakes, and people are turning to online resources for the best prices more and more. If you're itching to start your conquest, I would recommend quitting that job you're probably going to lose anyway and do the following:

1. Find a product or service that will make people feel safer

The majority of people are scared to death of taking even basic risks, and for the most part want to stick to whatever makes them feel safest and most comfortable.  Think of them as a flock of frightened sheep, and you're there to shepherd their money right into your pocket.

2. Attack the most base fears and desires when advertising

It's always a good idea to do this, but now a days it can really create a homerun for a new company.  Don't be scared to offer up large servings of sex and intoxicating escape to the masses that are hating their everyday existances.  If you operate any kind of store front, I would highly recommend spending some time and money on making it into a place which makes people feel like they've been transported to a better place.

3. Throw out the rule book

If you really think that you can make things happen for your world domination and play by the rules at the best of times, slam your head into the keyboard until you've passed out.  Seriously, right now it's even more dog eat dog than usual, and if you think that you can be a saint and still build that death ray you've been fantasizing about, you're smoking angel dust.

4. Expand aggressively once a profit has been made

There is no time to waste, every day is another day closer to a healthy economy - which means deals will dry up and opportunities will start to vanish.  Once you've got a steady stream of capital flowing to your accounts, find ways to expand your business and don't take "no" for an answer.  I would highly recommend absorbing any competitors that are hobbling along, that way they won't have a chance to eat into your profits when their business does pick up again.

Don't think of this economy as a recession, think of it as a goldmine and a flea market combined.  There are lots of gaps being left by the falling titans, and the price is right for just about everything.  Enjoy.
