Walking In Fog

champagneAlthough I do not use alcohol or drugs anymore, there was a time in which I did.  As a teenager, I was socially awkward and uncomfortable around other people my age.  My solution became going to local parties and getting drunk and high.  Everyone around me espoused about how rebellious we were being, and how exciting our lives were compared to our parents.  What a rush it was to drink until we couldn't remember what he had done the night before.  We weren't just confused teenagers as the older people thought, we were outlaws.

This is completely wrong.  We were blissfully unaware of the world around us, and as long as we had some beer and a bag of drugs, we were satisfied.  What we didn't realize was that we had been duped.  We had been programmed, since we were too young to understand, to ignore the fact that intoxication is just the tool the powerful use to subdue entire populations.  Alochol, tobacco and pharmaceutical companies produce products with combined death tolls far exceeding illegal drugs, yet they remain legal.  There are only two reasons for this: 1) they're heavily taxed by the US government, and 2) because their products keep the population's focus off of important subjects.

Money Changes The Rules

evilThe life of a working person in America is largely nothing more than an illusion.  People here are taught that you grow up, work hard at your job and retire in your 50s on some island in the Carribean, fat and happy.  But even as a child, I'd notice that there were people in their 60s working at grocery stores and fast food restaurants.  I'd look up and ask my parents, "why are these grandmas and grandpas working here?"  Fortunately, I have brutally honest parents, and they told me the truth.  They explained to me the reality of how this world doesn't take care of people who don't have money.
